Safe Roadways Campaign -2.51 lakh youth made aware of road safety, recorded in India Book of Records

Jaipur Under the safe road (Susma) campaign being run in collaboration with Public Works Department and Higher Education Department, Rajasthan, so far, more than 2 lakh 51 thousand youths of various government and private schools and colleges have been provided with road safety training. In the program organized at Maharani College on Wednesday, the record was announced by the India Book of Records titled ‘Great Youth Leaded Road Safety Campaign and Safe Road Corridor Development’. On this occasion, the Chief Guest and Public Works Department Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari was presented a certificate and a memento. Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari appreciated the campaign and said that this campaign being run by the department for awareness of road safety should become a part of life, so that positive changes can be brought in the society. He said that it is necessary to adopt road safety rules like installing helmets, wearing seat belts, stopping on red light and not talking on mobile while driving. Only then will the real change in the society. He congratulated the Chief Engineer (Quality Control) Jaswant Khatri, the team of the department and other colleagues for this achievement.
1500 Roads will be repaired at a cost of crores-The Deputy Chief Minister said that as soon as the rains are over, the work of permanent restoration of roads will be done at a cost of about Rs 1500 crore. He said that it is the priority of the government to maintain new roads as well as to maintain the existing roads and these works will be completed soon.
Citizens should also be aware of road construction-The Deputy Chief Minister said that the common man should keep in mind like an active citizen that the roads constructed in their area should be in line with the prescribed standards and the material used in them should be of the right quality. He directed the departmental officials to make the PWD Seva app public soon for the complaints of the public. Along with this, the officers were also essentially instructed to stay in the field for two days a week and investigate the roads. Under the campaign being run from August 9 to September 15 under the direction of Chief Engineer (Quality Control) Jaswant Khatri, students of state and private schools and colleges of the state are being trained about road safety rules, precautions and set standards. This campaign has been commanded by 60 women engineers of the department. The objective of this campaign is to bring awareness about road safety rules among the youth, promote the use of helmets and inform about the standards of safe road construction. Under the campaign, helmets are being provided to students for only Rs 300 at a discounted rate, while their market price is from 1200 to 1500 rupees. So far, helmets have been distributed to about 6444 students at a discounted rate. In the program, the Deputy Chief Minister also distributed helmets to the students. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan University Alpana Kateja, Government Secretary D.R. Meghwal, Chief Engineer TC Gupta and other officials of the department, NCC cadets, NSS Rovers, Maharani, Kanoudia and Khaitan Polytechnic College students were present.
