Samsung has recently introduced its Galaxy S22 series. Three flagship smartphones have been launched under the Galaxy S22 series, which include Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 + and Galaxy S22 Ultra. Of these, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is the bigger flagship in terms of both name and performance. With the Galaxy S22 series, Samsung has supported the S Pen for the first time. Support for S Pen is given in Galaxy S22 Ultra only.
The launch of the Galaxy S22 series is special in many ways. Apart from the S Pen, this is the first time that Samsung has introduced any of its flagship series with Snapdragon processor in India. Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor has been given in all three phones of Samsung Galaxy S22 series. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra’s 112 GB RAM with 256 GB storage is priced at Rs 1,09,999 and 12 GB RAM with 512 GB storage is priced at Rs 1,18,999. Of these, we have Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and today we will do the first impression of this phone.
The camera bump is good to see but there is also the fear of getting scratched. Samsung has not provided the cover and adapter in the box with the phone. At the bottom left is the S Pen holder and speaker grille with Type-C port.
Power and volume buttons are on the right. The SIM card tray has also got a place at the bottom. Armor aluminum is protected on the body of the phone. Both the rear and front panels of the phone are made of glass and the frame is of metal. The Gorilla Glass Victus+ has been given in the front.
Both the S Pen and the phone are rated IP68 for water resistance. The phone can be purchased in Phantom White, Phantom Black and Burgundy color. We had Phantom White color for review. Overall, you get ultra premium design with Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The phone flaunts a 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with Gorilla Glass Victus+ support. The brightness of the display is 1750 nits. Samsung has also provided Eye Comfort Shield with the phone which filters blue light. The refresh rate of the display is 120Hz which can be used even at 1Hz. HDR10+ is also supported with the display.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is the first phone in this series with which S Pen is available which is in the body of the phone itself. The phone has Android 12 based One UI 4.1. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, up to 12GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage, although the 1TB model hasn’t launched in India.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has a 40-megapixel front camera. Especially “Nightography” has been given with the camera. 20X zoom is also available for video recording. Apart from this, 100x zoom is also available with the camera. Group selfie is also available with the phone. A zoom mic is also available for video recording. With the phone you can do Ultra HD recording at 60fps.
For connectivity, the phone has 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS / A-GPS, NFC and Type-C port. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra packs a 5000mAh battery with support for 45W charging, though you’ll have to buy the charger separately. It will also get 15W wireless charging and wireless PowerShare. The weight of the phone is 229 grams.
