Washington: There has been a stir in America after a second case of bird flu was found in a person. According to ABC News, the second patient infected with bird flu has been confirmed in America. Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services said that a farm worker has been found to have bird flu, who was in regular contact with an animal infected with bird flu or avian influenza. The Central Disease Control and Prevention Department (CDC) said that a dairy worker in Michigan who came in contact with H5N1 infected cattle has been kept under observation.
Local health authorities have been informed about the symptoms he is showing. CDC said that two samples of the infected person have been taken for testing. One of these samples was from the nose and the other from the eye. The sample taken from the nose was negative for influenza in the laboratory test, but H5N1 infection was confirmed in the eye sample. After this, a sample was taken from the nose again. But this time also it was found negative for influenza. After this, the state was informed about the H5N1 infection. Influenza virus neuraminid (N type) is still pending for gene testing in CDC. Its sequencing work is in progress on clinical specimens. Its result is expected in a day or two.
