New Delhi. Security forces have released pictures of suspected terrorists who opened fire on a bus full of pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district. The suspects have been identified as Abu Hamza and Adhun, both of whom are believed to be foreign terrorists. Security agencies also believe them to be responsible for previous attacks in Rajouri and Poonch. Following the attack, the police have detained six to eight people for questioning.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has announced a compensation amount of Rs 10 lakh for the families of those killed in the terror attack. Besides, the injured will get a compensation amount of Rs 50,000. On Sunday, terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi district, resulting in the death of nine people and injuries to 41 others. The bus was on its way from the Shivkhori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra when it came under attack near Teriath village in Poni area, causing it to fall into a deep gorge.
Search for terrorists begins
On Monday, security forces launched a cordon and search operation to nab the terrorists responsible for the attack. The Army, police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have cordoned off the Teriath-Poni-Shiv Khori area near the border of Rajouri district, an official said. Surveillance equipment including drones and sniffer dogs are being used in the search operation. It is suspected that the terrorists involved in the attack are hiding in the upper reaches of Rajouri and Reasi.
