New Delhi. The Supreme Court has sought response from the Delhi government on the petition of alleged swindler Sukesh Chandrashekhar, in which it has been requested to direct the authorities to transfer him from Mandoli jail to any other jail except the jails of Punjab and Delhi.
The division bench of Justice Bela M Trivedi and Justice Pankaj Mithal issued notice to the Delhi government. The bench said, ‘In view of the allegations made in the writ petition, notice should be issued to the respondent, to which reply should be given on July 19, 2024.’
Senior advocate Paramjeet Singh Patwalia, appearing for Chandrashekhar, said that the petitioner has been kept under surveillance with two cameras to put pressure on him to withdraw the complaints. The lawyer told the court that Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation against former minister Satyendar Jain on Chandrashekhar’s complaint.
Patwalia said on behalf of Chandrashekhar, ‘Please send me anywhere in the country except Punjab and Delhi, where Aam Aadmi Party is not there.’ After this the apex court issued notice in the case. Chandrashekhar had accused Jain, who was in jail in a money laundering case, of extorting Rs 10 crore from him in the name of ‘protection money’. He had also claimed to have donated about Rs 50 crore to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Chandrashekhar was earlier transferred from Tihar jail to Mandoli jail after he claimed that there was a threat to his life in Tihar. The alleged swindler and his wife are in jail on charges of money laundering and cheating many people.
