Shares of consumer durables saw a lot of gains; Titan, ONGC and L&T saw the biggest gain in the lions
Mumbai, June 3 (IANS)| Major Indian equity indices closed at record highs on Thursday, tracking a bullish trend in global markets. Decline in Covid cases and strengthening Indian rupee supported the market sentiment. On Thursday, the Sensex closed at 52,232.43, up 382.95 points or 0.74 per cent from its previous close of 51,849.48. It opened at 52,121.58 and touched an intra-day high of 52,273.23 and a low of 51,942.20.
Nifty 50, which touched an intra-day high of 15,705.10, also closed at its record closing level. It closed at 15,690.35, up 114.15 points or 0.73 per cent from its previous close. During this period, good buying was seen in consumer durables and oil and gas stocks. Titan Company, ONGC and Larsen & Toubro were among the top gainers on the Sensex, while major losers were IndusInd Bank, Power Grid and Mahindra & Mahindra.
