The Mangaluru Municipal Corporation has decided to supply water to the city on a staggered basis by a day due to the drying up of a large part of the Netravathi river, the major source of drinking water in the city, and the rapid decline in the water level in the Thumbe reservoir. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of Mangaluru Municipal Corporation officials and officials of other allied departments on Saturday under the chairmanship of Mullai Muhilan, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, an official spokesperson said here. According to the decision taken in today’s meeting, water supply to the city residents will now be provided only once in two days.
