Shatrughan Sinha, the TMC’s candidate for the by-polls to West Bengal’s Asansol Lok Sabha seat, on Sunday hit out at the BJP for calling himself an outsider and asked why the party does not say the same about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is contesting from Varanasi. Huh.
Speaking to the media at Andal airport in West Vardhman district, Sinha said that he is confident that the people of Asansol will vote in the name of Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee, who has always stood for the development of Bengal. Sinha said, if it is acceptable for a national figure like the Prime Minister to contest from elsewhere, then it should be the same for me.
Bengal BJP leaders like Sukanta Majumdar and Agnimitra Paul have recently projected Sinha as an outsider in the state. Voting will be held on April 12 for the by-elections to the Asansol Lok Sabha seat and Ballygunge assembly seat. Counting of votes will take place on April 16.
