Abhinav Bindra And Manu Bhaker
Abhinav Bindra on the occasion of Paris Olympics 2024: India has won 6 medals in Paris Olympics 2024. Which includes one silver and five bronze medals. Neeraj Chopra has won the silver medal in javelin throw for India. Manu Bhaker has won two bronze medals in shooting. She is the first female player to win two medals in the same Olympics for India. No one was able to do this before her. Now Abhinav Bindra, who won the gold medal for India in the 2008 Olympics, has praised Manu Bhaker and Neeraj Chopra.
Abhinav Bindra praised Manu Bhaker
Abhinav Bindra told India TV that our athletes showed passion. Even though we have won only six medals, I think our athletes have performed very well. Those who did not win medals also came close to winning medals. I don’t think in our Olympic history we have seen so many athletes in strong medal contention.
Manu Bhaker has performed very well. She faced the difficulties bravely. It is a pleasure to see her making a strong comeback after the failure in Tokyo. She had a tough experience at the Tokyo Olympics but she has shown that she is a real athlete and kept working hard. It is good to win two bronze medals. Bindra said on Neeraj Chopra that his success is fantastic. He is an excellent athlete. The country is proud.
More Indian players should qualify for Olympics: Bindra
Abhinav Bindra said that I think our level has improved in the Olympics. I have never seen Indian athletes so competitive in the Olympics. This is a good sign. We have a lot of young players. We are on the right track. We need to work harder. 117 of our players participated in the Paris Olympics. We need to expand the Indian contingent in the Olympics to be held in Los Angeles. If more players qualify for the Olympics, then the chances of winning medals are higher.
The game can be cruel: Bindra
Sports takes time. Olympics happens once in four years and the competition is tough here. We need to work at the grassroots level. If we start today, we will get the result in 2028 and 2032. You have to create an environment that is conducive to performance. For Vinesh Phogat, it was a heart-wrenching experience. Sometimes sports can be cruel. I felt bad for her. I went to meet her and sympathized with her. Sports always runs by rules. If there are no rules, it is not sports. Now the matter is in CAS.
