Simple Energy announced last month that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding / MoU with the Tamil Nadu state government for an in-country electric two-wheeler factory. According to this MoU, an investment of up to Rs 2,500 crore will be made for an electric two-wheeler factory. In the first phase, the company’s under-construction facility near Shoolagiri in Hosur aims to roll out one million units per year by early 2022. After this, in the second phase, the company will invest Rs 1,000 crore in its second factory on 600 acres of land in Dharmapuri. This exclusive facility will also house a future-ready R&D centre, a world-class testing facility and a vendor park.
Simple Energy Company has also claimed that the electric two-wheeler factory set up by them will be the largest electric two-wheeler factory in the world. Earlier, Ola Electric had also claimed to build the world’s largest electric two-wheeler factory in India. In such a situation, Simple Energy’s claim of building the world’s largest electric two-wheeler factory in the country reflects their competition against Ola Electric in the electric two-wheeler segment.
