After losing the toss, Chennai Super Kings scored 210 runs at the loss of 4 wickets on the basis of captain Ruturaj Gaikwad’s century and Shivam Dubey’s quick fifty. Fighting alone, Marcus Stoinis scored a brilliant century and returned after leading the team to victory.
Stoinis single-handedly turned the match
The Lucknow team, which came to chase the target of 211 runs, got its first blow on just the third ball. After the first wicket fell at number three, Marcus Stoinis stepped onto the field and scored a century. He completed fifty runs on 26 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes and then completed his century by hitting 9 fours and 5 sixes on 56 balls.
Ruturaj’s record century
Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad not only took charge of the team after Lucknow Super Giants suffered its first setback but also returned after playing an amazing century. This batsman played an unbeaten inning of 108 runs at a strike rate of 180, hitting 12 fours and 3 sixes on 60 balls. Ruturaj has become the first captain from Chennai to score a century in IPL.
Shivam Dubey’s stormy innings
The credit goes to Shivam Dubey’s stormy innings for taking Chennai to a score above 200 after coming in to bat after losing the toss against Lucknow. He scored 66 runs in just 27 balls. This batsman hit 7 sixes during his innings while there were only 83 fours. He took the team’s score to 205 runs and then returned.
