Sri Lanka Crisis Live, Sri Lanka PM Declares State of Emergency Live News Updates: Protests have intensified again in Sri Lanka after Gotabaya Rajapaksa left the country. Protesters have seized the Prime Minister’s Office in Colombo. Seeing the situation getting out of control, the US Embassy has canceled all its consular services for today and tomorrow. According to reports, Rajapaksa will travel from Maldives to Singapore on Wednesday. On the other hand, in view of the aggressive attitude of the protesters, curfew has been imposed in the Western Province.

Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa said, “The PM becomes acting President only if the President appoints him, his office is vacant, or the Chief Justice in consultation with the Speaker feels that the President is unable to act. Without these, the PM cannot exercise the power of the President.”

Sri Lanka’s Newswire, citing the speaker of the country’s parliament, reported that the President of Sri Lanka will tender his resignation today, while a new president will be elected on July 20.

Let us inform that without resigning, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has fled the country and fled to the Maldives. In this situation, the protesters in Colombo have taken a fierce stand. At the same time, to stop the violence, the police also fired tear gas shells. In view of the deteriorating situation, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has declared a state of emergency in the country as the acting President.

Reports in the Sri Lankan media claim that the broadcast of Sri Lanka’s national TV channel Rupavahini Corporation has been stopped. The channel halted broadcasts after protesters surrounded its premises in Colombo.

At the same time, the protesters say that if the President and the Prime Minister do not submit their resignations by the evening of July 13, they will gather and occupy Parliament and other government buildings. At the same time, in view of the protests again in Colombo, a large number of security personnel have been deployed outside the residence of the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.
