There has been a ruckus over the award of power project work in Sri Lanka to the Adani Group. In Sri Lanka, the entire ruckus has arisen due to a statement by MMC Ferdinando, chairman of the state-run Ceylon Electricity Board. In which he has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had put pressure on Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to give wind power project to Adani Group in Sri Lanka.
Let us inform that after this statement, now MMC Ferdinando has tendered his resignation. On the other hand, on Thursday, the CEB clarified that it was done “on the request and recommendation of the Government of India”.
The clarification issued by the CEB in the Daily FT newspaper said that on the request and recommendation of the Government of India, a proposal by Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) was implemented by the Sri Lankan government. In which the Government’s policy for the Board of Investment (BoI) to Adani Group has been approved.
Earlier this month, the then CEB chairman, MMC Ferdinando, told the Committee of Parliament (COPE) on the allocation of power projects to AGEL at Mannar and Punarin in Sri Lanka, that “the project for the wind power plant in Mannar has been awarded to the Adani Group of India. Was gone because Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had put pressure on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa for this.”
Let us inform that after this statement of Ferdinando, Gotabaya Rajapaksa had denied this statement through a tweet. After which Ferdinando also apologized unconditionally for his statement. However, after a few days he left his post. CEB Chairman MCC Ferdinando said in his apology that he had become emotional due to pressure and emotions in front of a parliamentary panel. Due to which he used the word Indian Prime Minister.
Let us tell you that the Congress in India has also attacked the Modi government in this matter. A few days ago, Congress spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh alleged that Sri Lanka’s official Ceylon Electricity Board chairman MMC Ferdinando said in the parliament there that our President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was pressurized by Modi ji to give the wind power project work to Adani Group. be given.
Vallabh had asked whether the Prime Minister of our country has been made to get the contract for the private party. Is the PM of a great country like India working as an agent of any company? He said that what did the ED and other agencies not think it right to investigate in this matter? The Congress spokesperson said that why did the Prime Minister want to benefit a private person? What was their compulsion?
