On Friday, the last trading day of the week, the stock market opened on the red mark and finally closed with a fall after a day’s trading. The 30-share Sensex index of the Bombay Stock Exchange slipped 135 points to close at 51,360, while the Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange lost 67 points to end at 15,293.
Earlier, Sensex was down 392 points or 0.76 per cent at 51,103 and Nifty lost 116 points or 0.76 per cent to start trading at 15,244 level. With the opening of the market, there was a rise in about 522 shares and a fall in 1297 shares. On the last trading day on Thursday, both the indices closed with a strong fall. On the one hand, the BSE Sensex closed at 51,496 with a loss of 1046 points, while the NSE Nifty slipped 332 points to close at 15,360.
