The stock market opened with a gain on the last trading day of the week, but after a day’s trading, finally closed on the red mark. The 30-share Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed at 55,769, down 49 points, while the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange slipped 44 points to close at 16,584.
Earlier on Friday morning, both the indices of the market were open on the green mark. The Sensex started trading at the level of 56,318 with a gain of 500 points, while the Nifty opened at the level of 16,772 with a gain of 144 points. Talking about the last trading session, on Thursday, the BSE Sensex closed at 55,818, up 437 points or 0.79 per cent, while the NSE Nifty climbed 105 points or 0.64 per cent to close at 16,628.
