The domestic stock market opened with a green mark on Thursday. Benchmark equity indices opened with a positive trend. The Nifty 50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) opened 15 points higher at 23,531, while the BSE Sensex opened 61 points higher at 77,398.22. As soon as the market opened, the broader indices opened in the green. The Bank Nifty index opened 142 points higher at 51,540. Equity indices in the Asia-Pacific region were trading on a mixed trend on Thursday. At the beginning of trading in the stock market today, sectoral indices including Nifty Bank Index, Nifty Financial Index, Nifty PSU Index, Nifty Metal Index, Nifty Auto Index, Nifty Realty Index and BSE Oil & Gas Index were seen in the green mark, while other indices including Nifty Pharma Index, Nifty IT Index were seen in the red mark.
Top Loser and Gainer Stocks
At market open today, Kotak Mahindra Bank, SBI Life Insurance, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel and IndusInd Bank emerged as major gainers on Nifty, while Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finance, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Power Grid Corp and HDFC Life were seen in losses. WTI crude prices were trading 0.63% lower at $80.53 on Thursday morning, while Brent crude prices were trading 0.02% lower at $85.05.
FIIs bought shares worth ₹7,908.36 crore
According to provisional data available on NSE, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 7,908.36 crore on June 19, 2024. Similarly, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 7,107.80 crore. Sensex-Nifty recorded an all-time high in the last session. On June 19, Nifty made a new record of 23664. However, at the end of trading, it fell 42 points to close at 23516.
Indian rupee opened strong
The Indian currency opened 3 paise stronger against the US dollar on Thursday. The rupee opened at 83.43 per dollar against 83.46 per dollar.
