On Thursday, the fourth trading day of the week, the stock market started trading on the green mark. The Bombay Stock Exchange’s 30-share Sensex rose 506 points or 0.96 per cent to 53,048 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty gained 142 points or 0.91 per cent to open at 15,835.
With the opening of the market, about 1437 shares have risen, 250 shares have declined and 56 shares have remained unchanged. Reliance Industries, Bajaj Finance, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank and Bajaj Finserv were the major gainers on the Nifty, while ONGC, Nestle India, Bharti Airtel, SBI Life Insurance and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories were among the losers.
Earlier, the stock market continued to decline for four consecutive days. After opening with a slight increase in the last trading session on Wednesday, both the indices finally closed with a fall after a day’s trading. The BSE Sensex slipped 152 points to close at 52,541, while the NSE Nifty lost 40 points to close at 15,692.
