Jaipur. There is a village in Jaipur Rural Lok Sabha constituency which has been continuously boycotting voting for the last nine elections. This time also the voters of this village boycotted the Lok Sabha elections and did not cast even a single vote. The entire team of polling workers kept waiting for the voters throughout the day but no voter came. After the completion of voting time, the team returned empty handed. This village has become much talked about.
According to the information, the name of this village is Palawala Jatan. The voters of this village of Bassi area of Jaipur Rural Lok Sabha seat have been angry with the government for a long time due to their demands not being met. The reason for the displeasure of the villagers is regarding delimitation. These villagers are angry with the change in delimitation. They have expressed their displeasure to the administration several times but it has not been resolved yet.
The villagers did not cast a single vote
Due to this the villagers have boycotted the elections for a long time. Due to this, the villagers have boycotted the elections nine consecutive times till now. In the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024, votes were also cast for Jaipur Rural Lok Sabha seat. But the voters of Palawala Jatan village did not cast a single vote. Polling workers kept waiting for voters throughout the day. ADM, ASP, SDM and DSP all inspected the polling booth of the village and left. But the villagers said that they will not vote until their demands are accepted.
Have boycotted nine elections so far
The voters of this village had earlier boycotted the Panchayat elections in October 2020, Panchayat by-elections in July 2021, Panchayat Samiti member and Zilla Parishad member elections in September 2021 and Panchayat by-election in May 2022. After that, Panchayat by-elections in November 2022 and May 2023, Panchayat by-elections in August 2023, Assembly elections in November 2023 and again Panchayat by-elections in January 2024 were boycotted. The administration kept appealing to the villagers to vote throughout the day. But the villagers did not budge. Nevertheless, Tunga police station in-charge Mahesh Kumar remained deployed there throughout the day with police personnel regarding law and order.
