India’s neighboring country China is currently facing the increasing number of elderly people in the country. The youth of the country are far behind in getting married and also in producing children. In such a situation, a new announcement has been made by the government to encourage the youth in this regard to increase the birth rate in the country. The government has now announced several reliefs like subsidy and tax exemption for all the expenses incurred during pregnancy and during delivery for the third child to all the couples.
China’s national parliament, the National People’s Congress, formally approved the three-child policy in August itself. The government had taken this decision to bring the increasing number of elderly people in the country and the ever-decreasing birth rate high. Many couples do not show interest in producing children in view of the expenses incurred for the upbringing of children, for which a helpful step has been taken by the government to bring about a solution.
Since the passage of the Population and Family Planning Act in August, more than 20 provincial-level regions of China have amended their local child birth rules. According to China’s state news agency, other regions, including Beijing and Sichuan, have announced a number of support measures. In these, the time of paternity leave, maternity leave and marriage holidays have also been increased.
