New Delhi. You must have heard the dialogue of Sunny Deol with the hand of two and a half kilos many times from the tongues of angry people, but now the echo of another famous dialogue of Sunny Deol has been heard in the Supreme Court. This dialogue was spoken by Sunny Deol in the film ‘Damini’. Sunny became a lawyer in Damini. He had said on successive dates in the court, ‘Date pe liye hai, but justice was not served.’ This dialogue of Sunny was also spoken by Justice DY Chandrachud in the full courtroom of the Supreme Court on Friday. He appeared annoyed at the lawyers asking for dates in most cases.
Justice Chandrachud said that we want to change the practice of date on date in the Supreme Court. He said that lawyers come and ask for the next date, but they probably do not know that the judges stay awake till late night and study the files of the cases to be presented for hearing the next day. Justice Chandrachud said that I myself get up at 3.30 pm. I get up and read all the case files carefully. He also expressed his displeasure on the fact that many times the listing of the case is done late at night. For the first time this has happened, when a judge has quoted Sunny Deol’s famous dialogue in the court and that too in the Supreme Court.
Let us tell you that there are about 5 crore cases pending in the courts of the country. Of these, 1 lakh cases are going on for more than 30 years. All High Courts together have 59 lakh cases. Of these, the trial in 10000 cases is going on for more than 10 years. It is believed that now after the latest stand of Justice Chandrachud, the hearing of the cases and their decision will speed up.
