New Delhi. Alt News co-founder and fact checker Mohammad Zubair was arrested by Delhi Police for playing with religious sentiments and spreading enmity in the society. Now Mohammad Zubair has got relief from the Supreme Court. Court has granted bail to Mohammad Zubair. Let us tell you, Mohammad Zubair was arrested on 27th last month. Zubair was accused of hurting religious sentiments. In 2018, the Delhi Police had arrested Zubair for allegedly promoting enmity and hurting religious sentiments with an objectionable tweet. A case was registered against Zubair under section 153/295A of IPC. After his arrest, Zubair was produced before a duty magistrate late last night. From where he was sent to police custody for a day. Later, the Patiala House court in Delhi extended Zubair’s police custody to four days. The court had said that the police have to recover the accused’s phone and laptop from his Bengaluru home.
Hearing on the bail plea of Mohammad Zubair was held in the Supreme Court today. Hearing the petition, the Supreme Court has granted bail to Mohammad Zubair for five days in a case registered in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. However, let us tell here that Mohammad Zubair will not be able to come out of jail at the moment. Zubair will remain in judicial custody of Delhi Police.

During the hearing, Justice Indira Banerjee, while issuing notice to the UP government and the police, said that Zubair is being granted interim bail with certain conditions. However, Zubair will not be able to move out of the jurisdiction. Along with this, he will not tweet until any kind of decision is taken in the matter.
