After Fosta, SGTTA also appealed to State BJP President Patil
In view of the horrors of the second wave of Corona epidemic, the administration has currently closed the textile markets in Surat city. This lockdown is causing a lot of loss to the traders. After incurring heavy losses in the first six months of the year 2020-21, the post-Diwali market had recovered somewhat and traders expected that the losses of the said financial year would be recovered in the year 2021-22. But the second wave of Corona has started this new financial year exactly as it was last year.
By the way, traders are not happy with the current lockdown. For this, they are blaming the business organizations that they have not presented the interests of the textile market properly before the administration. The fortnight of May has gone into captivity. Now sensing the fury of the traders, the merchant organizations are looking for a way to open the market at their level.
In this sequence, representatives of FOSTA met BJP state president CR Patil on Saturday and demanded permission to open the markets for a few hours during the day, so that the businessmen can do their essential work. Now on Sunday, another organization of traders, South Gujarat Textile Traders Association (SGTTA) has also met CR Patil and demanded that the markets be allowed to open five days a week from 10 am to 6 pm. The leaders who received Patil on behalf of SGTTA included President Savarprasad Budhia, General Secretary Sunil Jain etc.
Now it remains to be seen what stand the state administration takes after the offer made to Patil. The cases of corona have definitely decreased in the last week. It has to be seen whether the government approves the opening of textile markets from this week or another week will pass in the lockdown itself.
