The three day ‘Global Textile Trade Fair’ exhibition of Dakshin Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry has started from 9th to 11th June at Gas South Convention Center in Atlanta, USA. In which textile industrialists are showcasing their own fashionable products. Surat’s textile industrialists/exhibitors are getting overwhelming response from local buyers from day one. About 432 genuine buyers visited the exhibition on the first day.
The opening ceremony was held on June 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM. The exhibition was inaugurated by Field Representative Sebastian Barrow, who arrived from the Georgia Governor’s Office as the chief guest. Dr. Swatiben Kulkarni, Consul General of India in Atlanta, Madan Kumar, Consulate General of India in Atlanta; Bobibhai Patel, President, GTTF International Committee; Polbhai Patel, Honorary and Director, Holiday Inn; Devendra Singh, Federation of Gujarati Association of USA President Vasubhai Patel, Director Resource Group CEO David Golt, Founding President and CEO of Atlanta City of Peace John Nogal and others were present.
Speaking at the event, Chief Guest Sebastian Barona said that the exhibition organized by the Chamber would go a long way in taking the city of Atlanta forward in the field of textiles. In future also when such demonstration is organized on a large scale by the Chamber, full cooperation will be given by their Governor’s Office.
USA is India’s No. 1 trading partner in the world and with whom we also do business worth $119 billion annually. These mainly include diamonds, pharmaceuticals and leather goods. According to an estimate, the apparel market in the United States is worth about US$318 billion, of which about 58 percent is imported. China alone has a market share of 41 percent in the US textile import basket. The textile import ratio of MMF and cotton is around 58%, which shows that there is a huge scope for Surat based industry to find buyers in USA. He explained in detail about the strength of the textile industry in Surat.
A large number of buyers visited on the first day of the exhibition. Fabric, Grey, Bleach Fabric, Sofa Fabric, Towel Fabric, Woven Garments and other fabrics were in huge demand. Buyers were interested in buying linen, denim and other fabrics from India as well as Surat. He also thanked the Ministers for the logo support of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and the full cooperation of Union Minister of State for Textiles Piyush Goyal and Union Minister of State for Textiles Darshanben Jardosh for the exhibition organized by the Chamber.
David Gault, CEO and director of Resource Group, said China charges a 25 per cent duty on textile products. So India has got a huge opportunity to do business through this exhibition. The product of Surat industrialists has been successful in attracting the attention of buyers in USA. Hence, he and some other buyers will visit Surat, he said.
Bobibhai Patel, President, GTTF International Committee said that the exhibition of the Chamber is getting a good response from the textile traders and industrialists and designers of Indian goods. Vasudev Patel said that if such an exhibition is organized by the Chamber again in the USA in future, it will get the full support of the Atlanta based Gujarati community.
Dharmesh Desai said that there is a huge demand for bath robes and bath robes, pillow covers, bedsheets, curtains and bath curtains, home furnishings, table cloths and kitchen cloths in the motel. So the exhibitors are getting direct orders to meet the demand of the buyers in this exhibition.
It is worth mentioning here that the BTC Table Top Buyer-Seller Meet will be held in California on June 16, 2022, in New Jersey by Batubi and BTUSi. Buyers, sellers and manufacturers from all over the world will come together on one platform. In this meeting, Surat’s textile industrialists will find global buyers of garments.
