The CNG vehicle portfolio in the country is rapidly expanding. Due to the rising price of petrol and diesel, automakers are constantly focusing on other fuel options. Yesterday, the country’s largest automaker Tata Motors introduced its affordable sedan car Tigor CNG in the domestic market. Now after the arrival of this car in the market, it has started being compared to the already existing Hyundai Aura.
The question in the mind of most of the people is that which of these two CNG sedan cars will be the best option for them. Tata Motors claims that the company has used special and better technology in its CNG cars. Which make their cars better than their competitors. At the same time, after Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai was now the only company that used to sell CNG cars and now the name of Tata Motus has also been included in this race. So let us know which sedan will be better for you in these two cars-
How’s the design:
The Tata Tigor is a pretty car, and the CNG variant gets the exact same design as the petrol variant, except for the ‘i-CNG’ badge on the rear bumper. It gets angular headlamps, wide front grille (chrome-studded), 14-inch hyperstyle steel wheels, chrome door handles, LED DRLs, LED taillights etc.
The Hyundai Aura comes with an aggressive and sporty look in terms of design, which makes it different from the Tigor. It gets sleek headlights, boomerang-shaped LED DRLs, a cascading front grille, large LED taillamps, body-colored door handles and 14-inch steel wheels (with wheel caps). There is no ‘CNG’ badging given to differentiate it from other variants of Aura. There is not much difference between the two in terms of length and width, with the Aura being a few mm more in length and width, the Tigor has won the height. Apart from this, both the sedans get a wheelbase of 2,450mm.
Interior of both cars:
The interior of the Tata Tigor is quite simple yet good looking, with a dual-tone color theme – black and white. The interior door handles along with piano black inserts on the dashboard and door panels are chrome plated, giving a premium touch to the cabin. Considering the compact size of the car, the cabin space might be a bit difficult to accommodate three adults in the much better rear seat.
The Hyundai Aura also gets a dual-tone interior color theme – black and white – with bronze-finished inserts on the dashboard and center console. The instrument console has been used to house the audio system, which is an upmarket design. The space inside the cabin is commensurate with the size of the car, but even this can make it uncomfortable for three people to sit in the back seat.
These features are available:
The company has included many advanced features in the Tata Tigor, which includes all power windows, automatic climate control, keyless entry and go, cooled glovebox, power adjustable ORVMs (auto-folding), rain-sensing wipers, 7-inch touchscreen. Is. The infotainment system (with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), digital monochrome instrument cluster, etc., is found on the top-spec XZ Plus trim.
On the other hand, features on the Aura include power windows, manual AC, rear AC vents, keyless entry, cooled glovebox, power-adjustable out side rear view mirrors (ORVM’s), a 2-DIN audio system, a semi-digital instrument console (3.5. -inch LCD with mid). However, the CNG variant doesn’t get a touchscreen infotainment system, which can be a bit disappointing.
Engine Capacity:
In Tata Tigor CNG, the company has used a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated regular petrol engine that generates 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque when running on petrol. While driving on CNG, this motor generates 73.4 PS of power and 95 Nm of torque. This engine comes with a 5-speed gearbox.
The Hyundai Aura CNG also gets a 1.2L naturally aspirated engine, which is equipped with 4 cylinders. In petrol mode, this engine generates power of 83 PS and torque of 113.8 Nm, and in CNG mode this engine generates power of 68.66 PS and torque of 95.2 Nm. This engine also comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox.
Price and Mileage:
Talking about the burden on the pocket, the price of Tata Tigor CNG variant is between Rs 7.69 lakh to Rs 8.41 lakh. On the other hand, Aura is available in only one CNG variant, which costs Rs 7.74 lakh. So in terms of price, Tata Tigor is becoming the winner. On the other hand, in terms of mileage, 60 liters of CNG tank capacity has been given in Tigor and this car gives mileage up to 26.49 km/kg. On the other hand, the Aura has a tank of 65 liters and this car gives a mileage of up to 28 km / kg.
Conclusion:
The power figure of the Tata Tigor is quite good when run on CNG, which makes it better in terms of performance. In terms of torque output, the Hyundai Aura leads the way, but with a very slight margin, also, the Tigor’s engine can be started on CNG mode, a feature unique to Tata’s i-CNG cars. This feature is available till now only in Tata’s CNG cars, all other companies’ CNG cars start on petrol.
