The ICC has released the T20 team rankings on Wednesday, in which the Indian team has maintained its dominance. World champions Australia are present in fifth place in the annual rankings. India is at the top of the latest rankings, scoring five ratings more than England. England are in second place with 265 ratings. India’s performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 held in the United Arab Emirates and Oman was disappointing. The team could not make it to the semi-finals. But after that the team has performed brilliantly in the T20 format and won the series against many teams to stake claim for the upcoming World Cup.
Number one in Australia Test, India T20 and New Zealand ODI
India ended the 2021-22 season as the world’s number one T20 team due to their consistent impressive performances at home. But it is nine points behind top-ranked Australia in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) annual Test rankings released on Wednesday. New Zealand is the number one team in the world in One Day International cricket following the annual ranking.
“After the annual ‘update’ of the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings, Australia have increased their lead over second-placed India from one point to nine points, while Pakistan’s team replaces England in fifth place,” the ICC said in a release. But it is captured.
India defeated New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka at home under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. England is second with 265 rating points. Pakistan has moved into the top three with 261 rating points. Fourth-placed South Africa has jumped one place, retaining its old rating point (253).
While Australia have also gained a place in the table and are now in fifth place maintaining their rating points (251). New Zealand have dropped two places to number six, losing five rating points (250). West Indies (240 points) remain in seventh place. Bangladesh (233 points) and Sri Lanka (230 points) are both ranked eighth and ninth respectively. Afghanistan has dropped two places from the top 10 after losing six rating points (226).
