Bhopal. Under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), three people in Madhya Pradesh have received Indian citizenship certificates. State Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav gave citizenship certificates to two Pakistani and one Bangladeshi citizen. All three had applied online for citizenship of the country in May. The names of the Pakistani citizens are Sameer, Sanjana Melwani. While, the name of the Bangladeshi woman is Rakhi Das. There was happiness on the faces of all three after getting the citizenship certificate. All three thanked the government of the country and the state. An applicant Rakhi Das made a shocking revelation about the condition of Hindu women in Bangladesh.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said, ‘This was a difficulty which has been resolved and a relationship has been established. This relationship reminds us of Akhand Bharat. Before 1947, the then government had decided that we will protect and take care of all the minorities in our country. With this assurance, Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Christians, Parsis stayed in the former parts of India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan. With the passage of time, they were denied entry into India. They were banned and considered foreigners, although they were not foreigners by origin. They were part of that Akhand Bharat.’
Yadav said, ‘They stayed there only because of the trust in the then government. The governments of Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan were not able to provide them security. It is a good thing that our family members came back to us to save their religion. If they wanted, they could have changed their religion, but they have returned to their country. All of you are welcome in Madhya Pradesh. The government will help you completely.’

‘Will not be called Pakistani and Bangladeshi…’
The father of the first applicants under CAA, Sameer Selvani and Sanjana Selvani, was living in Pakistan. They have been living in India since 2012. They applied under CAA in May. The third applicant Rakhi Das is from Bangladesh. She was also given a certificate of Indian citizenship today.
Rakhi Das said, ‘I came to Bhopal from Bangladesh eight years ago to study PhD. I am very happy to get Indian citizenship. Now I can give exams here and try for a government job. Everything is fine in Bangladesh, but Hindu women do not get much freedom to study and work.’
