In Punjab, Bhagwant Mann has become the Chief Minister and the Congress party led by Charanjit Singh Channi has been ousted from the power of the state. Even before the elections in Punjab Congress, the ruckus was clearly visible. After the election results, senior Congress leader Manish Tewari had targeted Channi while congratulating Mann, while now another party leader Sunil Jakhar also targeted Channi in gestures and said that Punjab needed a Chief Minister who Do not operate remotely.
Senior Congress leader Sunil Jakhar on Sunday said Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is stepping out of the shadow of his Aam Aadmi Party’s top leadership in Delhi and it is good for the state. Jakhar said this is good as Punjab needs a chief minister who is independent rather than “remote-driven”.
In the recent Punjab Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party won 92 out of 117 seats, while the Congress got only 18 seats. Jakhar, former president of Congress’s Punjab unit, tweeted that it seems that Bhagwant Mann has already come out of the influence of his party’s Delhi high command. He said the absence of two veteran leaders of the party at the swearing-in ceremony of Punjab ministers indicates this.
Jakhar said, “It is good because Punjab needs a Chief Minister who is himself a Mukhtiyar (independent) instead of being “remote-driven”. Congratulating him on becoming the CM, he said that he got an invitation to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Bhagwant Mann. But the irony is that he was not invited to the swearing-in ceremony of Charanjit Singh Channi even though he was the MLA of his own party.
