Jaipur . On Day 7 of the Performing Arts Festival- ‘Rasrangam’ organized by Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK), the audience enjoyed a culturally rich evening with classical music and dance performances at the open-air theater of JKK. Significantly, the festival will run till March 13 and will have performances of classical music, instrumental, classical dance and theatre.
‘Classical Vocal’ by Dr. Chetna Pathak
In the middle of the evening, the evening started sweetly with the classical singing of Dr. Chetna Pathak, a Hindustani classical singer of Kirana Gharana. With the melodious sound and expressions of Kirana style, Dr Pathak performed North Indian classical music (Khyal singing) in selected ragas with Vilamit Laya, Madhya Laya, Drut Khayal and Tarana. This was followed by the presentation of melodious classical music styles, Thumri and Dadra (Hori) etc. He was accompanied by Shri Rajendra Banerjee (harmonium) and Shri Mahendra Dangi (Tabla) in the performance.
Dr Chetna Pathak is a disciple of internationally renowned Hindustani classical singer, Kirana Gharana Padma Vibhushan awardee, Dr Prabha Atre. He is one of the pioneers of the Kirana gharana, who was initiated into music at the age of 8 by his mother and father. He has also received the lessons of Tappa singing from Pandit Balasaheb Poonchwale, the master of Gwalior Gharana.
