But now cases of black jaundice i.e. viral hepatitis are also being seen increasingly among the people, which is known as a serious disease. If it is not treated in time, it can prove fatal for humans. It rapidly causes harm to the human body. Due to which there is a strong possibility of cancer.
Black jaundice is a dangerous viral infection in the liver. It is caused by hepatitis B and C viruses. Due to hepatitis B and C infection, the level of bilirubin in the body increases. This condition is called jaundice. If timely treatment is not done, the infection starts increasing. This is called black jaundice. Due to the seriousness of this disease, it has been given the name of black jaundice. If the situation becomes serious, the victim may die due to liver damage.
17000 cases registered in Meerut zone
Dr. Arvind Kumar, officer-in-charge of Hepatitis Model Treatment Center Medical College, said that in view of the number of patients infected with hepatitis across the country, the Viral Hepatitis Control Program was started by the Government of India in the year 2018. From then till now people are being screened continuously. More than 17000 cases have been registered in the districts related to Meerut zone which are undergoing treatment.
What is black jaundice?
Dr. Arvind Kumar told that due to accumulation of carbon in the liver, the patient becomes victim of chronic hepatitis B, due to which the risk of liver damage and diseases like cancer increases. Due to this disease, the complexion of the victim starts turning black, that is why this disease is colloquially called black jaundice.

Dr. Arvind Kumar told that usually the cause of black jaundice is Hepatitis B and C. Hepatitis B and C viruses reach the body through blood and affect the liver. If timely treatment is not done, accumulation of carbon in the liver can lead to problems ranging from cancer to kidney damage and skin related problems. Sometimes, despite treatment, hepatitis B and C viruses remain in the liver, causing the victim’s liver to shrink and get damaged. Repeated use of injections. Body parts like piercing the nose and ears, use of infected needles, sharing of razors, nail cutters, toothbrushes, having unprotected sex, transfusion of infected blood and blood products, dialysis etc. are considered.
What are the symptoms of black jaundice?
Let us tell you that the common symptoms of a disease like black jaundice are loss of appetite, weakness in the body, yellowing of eyes and skin, nausea, mild fever, constant pain in the stomach and pain in the joints, etc. Not only this, Dr. Arvind says, if any person is suffering from jaundice, he should also get tested for Hepatitis C and B.
