Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has spoken of implementing the Delhi model. But in some schools, students are waiting to get basic facilities. Similar is the condition of Dhobiana Government School, where children are forced to sit on the ground and get education. The reason for this is that there are not enough desks in the school. It is reported that recently CA Mann had also held a meeting with teachers and principals to improve the education level.
According to the Tribune report, the Dhobiana Government School was inaugurated by the then state finance minister Manpreet Badal on January 7. The Vidyalaya was constructed at a cost of Rs 1.25 crore. In this, the government had spent 35 lakhs only in making the pool. According to the report, in the present situation neither the pool is operational nor there are enough desks in the school.
According to the report, Principal Monica informed that there are 170 desks short in the school and a request has been made for 200 desks in Mohali head office. He explained, “The school is being upgraded from primary to senior secondary, this year more students were enrolled. Whereas, as of now we have students up to class 8.
Educationist Professor PK Gosain says, ‘The Chief Minister is talking about sending teachers abroad for training, but the truth is that most of the government schools lack basic facilities. The government should set its priorities.
