Lucknow . After the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the voices of opposition are seen in the Samajwadi Party regarding Muslim interests. The voices of dissatisfaction are also emerging from the camp of Shafiqur Rahman Burke and Azam Khan. Whereas in the recently held general elections, Muslim voters unilaterally voted for the SP.
The one-sidedness of these voters can also be gauged in such a way that many strong Muslim faces, who came from other parties, yearned for the votes of their community. After the results, after several decisions within the party, now a section of Muslim leaders is accusing them of ignoring Muslims.
This can also be gauged from the fact that Sambhal MP Shafiqur Rahman Burke even said that the Samajwadi Party is not working in the interests of Muslims. Later the statement came that the tongue had slipped. After this, Fasahat Khan, close to SP leader Azam Khan and media in-charge, put the SP chief in the dock. Azam is in jail for two and a half years. Akhilesh Yadav has gone to meet only once. Not only this, he was not even made the leader of the opposition, nor was the importance given to Muslims in the party. He reportedly said, “Now Akhilesh is smelling from our clothes. Your 111 seats have come because of our votes. But, still you will become the Chief Minister and you will also become the Leader of the Opposition. No other leader can become the opposition.
A big Muslim leader of SP said that some such incidents happened recently on which the silence of the top leadership has raised big questions. In Bareilly, the petrol pump of MLA from Bhojipura, Shahjil Islam, was demolished by the government. Apart from this, a relative of another MLA Nahid Hasan and his own property was bulldozed. But no specific stand was taken by the national leadership. The reason for this was that Shahjil Imam has not even participated in the election of the Legislative Council. Similarly, in the matter of many rights, even opinion is not being taken from us. This causes frustration among the workers. The reason for this is that the supporters of Azam Khan Saheb, who is a 10-time MLA, are also looking disheartened. That is why such statements are coming.
Senior political analyst Ratanmani says that in this election, SP chief Akhilesh was not presenting himself as a benefactor of minorities. He does not want that his image should not be made of a Muslim party. That is why BJP has got good votes in some Muslim areas. If the support of Muslims is seen indirectly, then its efforts are being reduced. The same has been seen in ticket distribution. Muslim leaders have not been given much attention among the top level campaigners. BJP is coming to power again and again without those thinking Muslims. So why can’t SP come? Shafiqur Rahman Burke, who is in the SP from the beginning, puts the matters of Muslim interests above all. Apart from this, the statement of Azam Khan’s supporters shows that Muslim society in general has understood that Akhilesh does not need Muslim support as much. Their dependence on this vote bank is decreasing.
SP spokesperson Dr. Ashutosh Verma says that SP has always been with Muslim society. An example of this has been seen in the 2022 elections. We gave the most tickets. Most Muslim MLAs also won from SP. All the interests of Muslims are safe in SP. It is a matter of Azam Khan that SP has family relations with him. The atrocities with them have been raised by the SP from time to time. He has a lot of respect in the party. The Arnagals who are talking about them will have some personal ambition of their own.
