New Delhi: Delhi High Court has rejected the petition to allow jailed leaders to campaign through video conferencing during elections. Not only this, while refusing to hear this petition, the High Court has also strongly reprimanded the petitioner. Delhi High Court said that the petitioner wants that jailed leaders should be allowed to campaign through video conferencing. They understand what they are requesting. If this is done then every hardened criminal will form a political party and demand election campaign through video conferencing.
Delhi High Court made a strong comment on the petition and said that if your demand is accepted, then Dawood Ibrahim will form a political party and contest elections… Every rapist, murderer will form a political party and demand to campaign through video conferencing. Delhi High Court said that this is contrary to the fundamental principles of law.
The High Court said that for the last few days, many such petitions have been coming to the court, in which there is a demand to either release someone from jail or to imprison someone. There is propaganda behind this and also the desire for publicity. After this, the court was going to impose a heavy fine on the petitioner, but the petitioner’s lawyer requested not to impose the fine saying that he is a law student. The court did not impose any fine but asked it to explain to its client the division of powers.
