The arrival of Tesla in India is being discussed for a long time, last day we told you how the Telangana government invited Tesla to set up a plant in their state. Following which, Maharashtra has now invited Tesla CEO Elon Musk to set up EV maker Tesla’s plant in the state. In fact, Maharashtra’s Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil wrote on Twitter on Sunday that the state could be the location for Tesla to set up a plant to manufacture electric cars in India.
Along with this, the West Bengal government has also invited Tesla to set up its car manufacturing plant in the state. West Bengal Minister Mohammad Ghulam Rabbani on Saturday responded to Elon Musk’s tweet in which the Tesla CEO wrote that his company still faces several challenges with the Indian government in resuming operations in the country.
On Sunday, Jayant Patil replied to the same tweet saying “Maharashtra is one of the most progressive states of India. “We will provide you all necessary support from Maharashtra to get established in India. We will help you to set up your manufacturing plant in Maharashtra. invite you to.”

Note, that the reply to Elon Musk’s tweet comes after the Telangana government has already shown interest in hosting Tesla’s EV manufacturing plant in India. Telangana’s Industries and Commerce Minister KT Rama Rao wrote on Twitter that his government would be happy to partner with Tesla in working through the challenges of setting up a Tesla plant. “Our state is a champion in sustainability initiatives and a top business destination in India,” Rao wrote.
