Some technical flaws have come to the fore in the famous sedan cars of South Korea’s leading automaker Hyundai. Hyundai Motor Company has recalled a total of 26,413 units of its Elantra, Sonata and Santa Fe sedans in the US due to a problem with the windshield. According to a recall report filed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), windshields that are not properly attached can cause an accident if they come loose.
The security agency report states that the problem of loosening is being seen in the windshields of these cars. Drivers of an affected Hyundai sedan may notice wind noise or water leaking from the windshield, which could be a sign of a loose windshield. The recall includes 8,256 units of the Elantra sedan, 8,561 units of the Santa Fe and 9,596 units of the Sonata. These cars were assembled as early as October 29, 2020.

The report states that clearcoat paints supplied by a supplier were used in these cars, which the company had stopped using from December 16, 2020. However, the company is also not aware of any accidents or injuries resulting from the windshield problem.
The company will start notifying the owners of the affected vehicles from February 25. The company’s dealers will remove and reinstall the windshields of the vehicles free of cost. In the meantime, vehicle owners can check whether their car is part of the recall on the official NHTSA website. It is important to note here that this recall is only for cars sold in the US and has nothing to do with the Indian market.
