In fact, the Odisha government has announced a 15 percent subsidy on the purchase of electric vehicles. Under which the subsidy for two wheelers will be 15 percent of the cost and up to a maximum of Rs 5,000.
It has been said in this announcement that the 15 percent subsidy limit for three wheelers is Rs 10,000 and for four wheelers this limit is Rs 50,000. As per the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy 2021, a notification issued by the Department of Commerce and Transport on January 31, states that this subsidy will be effective from September 1, 2021 and the amount will be deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries by the RTO where the vehicle is registered. . At the same time, customers can take advantage of this scheme till December 31, 2025.
For this scheme, a dedicated portal will be set up by the government for monitoring information related to sales, credit of purchase incentives and subsidy on loans. You will remember that in October last year, the government had announced exemption in registration fee and motor vehicle tax on all categories of electric vehicles. It is to be noted that at present Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Meghalaya provide more subsidies than those given by the central government. On the other hand, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand also offer exemption on road tax and registration fee.

This decision of Odisha’s EV subsidy came after presenting the budget today. Talking about electric vehicles, the Finance Minister has announced that the government will soon come up with a battery swapping policy. Along with this, emphasis will be given on the development of more and more charging stations.
