Citing the strong sales of the EV luxury car segment, Audi has announced that it has sold 81,894 fully electric vehicles, registering a growth of 57.5 percent in the EV segment over the previous year. That is, Audi’s total deliveries stood at 16,80,512 units, which is 0.7 percent less than in 2020. The company said that it has registered record breaking sales with 9,81,681 vehicles delivered after the first half of 2021.
It is worth noting here that persistent global semiconductor shortages impacted the brand’s sales in the second half of the year and as a result, deliveries in the fourth quarter declined by 34.2 percent compared to the same period in 2020. Hildegard Wortmann, a member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at Audi AG, said that “the last year was a challenging year for the brand, but it was made a success by the collective effort of the team.”
Audi to be electrified by 2026
In the electric vehicle segment, Audi’s move to introduce the Audi e-tron GT and Audi RS e-tron GT at the beginning of the year in 2021 has marked a strong initiative in the segment. The brand also revealed that the Audi Q4 e-tron and Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron have also made a foray into the electric segment.
Audi Electric car available in three variants
With these four new models, Audi has more than doubled its product portfolio of fully electric models in the past one year. The company aims to have more than 20 fully electric vehicles in its portfolio by 2025 and plans to sell only EVs by 2026. Audi e-tron price in India has been kept in the range of Rs 1 Crore to Rs 1.18 Crore ex-showroom. The e-tron electric SUV is sold in three trims – e-tron 50, e-tron 55 and e-tron 55 Sportback.
