'This is not an accident but a crime', Priyanka Gandhi furious after the death of UPSC students due to water filling in the basement of the coaching center

New Delhi. Three students lost their lives due to waterlogging in the basement of a coaching centre in Old Rajendra Nagar, Delhi. Both Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi have expressed their condolences and concern over the incident. Priyanka Gandhi expressed her grief on social media platform X. She wrote, “The death of three students due to waterlogging in the basement of the coaching centre is heartbreaking. I pray for the souls of the deceased and the bereaved families. Recently, a student also died due to electric shock in Patel Nagar. This is the height of negligence and chaos, where students who have come from far away to fulfill their dreams are losing their lives.”

Emphasising the need for accountability, he said, “This is criminal and irresponsible. Accountability must be established and it is extremely important to take note of every illegal and dangerous construction and activity in areas inhabited by competitive students.”

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has also expressed grief over this incident. On the same social media platform, he wrote, “The death of competitive students due to water accumulation in the basement in Delhi is extremely unfortunate. A few days ago, a student died due to electric shock during the rain. I offer my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The collapse of infrastructure is a collective failure of the system. Unsafe construction, loose town planning and institutional irresponsibility have taken the lives of common citizens. Safe and comfortable life is the right of every citizen and the duty of governments.” The comments of the leaders underline the urgent need for better safety standards and accountability in urban infrastructure and educational institutions.
