Country’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki wants to strengthen itself in this segment by launching the new Celerio CNG. The new Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG will be the carmaker’s first launch for 2022, bookings for which have already started unofficially at dealerships. If dealer sources are to be believed, the new Celerio CNG could be officially launched sometime in January 2022, though the date has not been revealed yet.
The second generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio was launched in November 2021, using a completely different design language. While launching the Celerio last year, the company had indicated that in view of the rising prices of petrol and diesel and the increasing popularity of CNG-equipped cars in India, we would soon introduce the Celerio in this segment.
The first generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio will be offered in the CNG version, though it will lose the boot space altogether with the new version. At the same time, its running cost will also be very less. The CNG kit will be paired with the all-new 1.0-litre three-cylinder K10C DualJet engine from the new Celerio. Currently, this engine makes a maximum power output of 67 bhp and a peak torque output of 89 Nm in the Celerio. However, this figure is likely to come down with the addition of CNG kits.

Maruti Celerio gives mileage of 26.68 kmpl for the AMT variant and 25.24 kmpl for the manual variant. At the same time, more mileage is expected from the new Celerio CNG in comparison to these figures. The new Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG will be the first car in which the CNG kit will be paired with the new K10C engine. This K10C engine will also be powered by other popular sub-compact hatchbacks such as the WagonR and S-Presso in the future.
