T20 World Cup 2024 is starting from June 1 on the soil of America and West Indies. Nepal’s star cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane got bail on rape charges. After this, ICC also gave permission to Nepal Cricket Board to include him in the World Cup team. But now it seems difficult for Sandeep Lamichhane to play in the T20 World Cup. Because the US Embassy has refused to give him a visa for the T20 World Cup.
Sandeep Lamichhane got bail
Nepal’s star cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane was hoping to make a comeback to international cricket with the T20 World Cup after being acquitted in a rape case. This is a big blow to the career of Lamichhane, the only cricketer from Nepal to play in IPL. He was arrested in September 2022 for raping a girl. He was later released on bail but remained suspended from domestic and international cricket. A week ago, the 23-year-old leg spinner was acquitted by the court on an appeal.

Citing an old post on visa denial in 2019, Lamichhane wrote on ‘X’ that the US Embassy in Nepal did the same thing they did in 2019. They refused to give me a visa for the T20 World Cup to be held in America and West Indies. Unfortunate. I apologize to all the well-wishers of Nepal Cricket. Lamichhane wanted to participate in the Caribbean Premier League in 2019 but the US Embassy refused to grant him a visa.
Rohit Paudel is the captain of the Nepal team

Lamichhane has taken 112 wickets in 51 ODIs and is close to taking 100 wickets in T20Is. He has taken 98 wickets in 52 T20I matches so far. Nepal team has been placed in Group-D.
