Dehradun: A big news is coming for the people above 50 years of age going on Char Dham pilgrimage. According to reports, worried about the deaths of devotees due to health reasons on the Yatra route, the Uttarakhand government has made health checkup of pilgrims above 50 years of age mandatory. Let us inform that since the beginning of Char Dham Yatra on May 10, more than 20 pilgrims have died due to health related reasons.
‘Medical data will have to be uploaded on the app’
Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, Radha Raturi told in Dehradun that the health department will conduct health check-up of the devotees coming on Char Dham Yatra at various places. He said that health check-up will be done compulsorily, especially for passengers above 50 years of age. Raturi said that in order to provide best health facilities to the devotees, the Health Department, ‘Vish Foundation’ and Hans Foundation have launched ‘e-Swasthya Dham’ app on which they have to upload their health data.
‘It will be easier to have a correct medical history’
Raturi has also asked the officials of the Health and Tourism Department to make the devotees coming on Char Dham Yatra aware to give information about their ‘medical history’ (health background) during registration. He said that if the devotees provide their correct medical history, it will make it easier for the administration to provide medical help to them in case of any emergency. He said that apart from this, it will also be easier for the medical department to manage medical resources better.
Government issued health advisory in 14 languages
Raturi said that the administration is committed to providing safe and smooth Char Dham Yatra to the pilgrims. According to official figures, more than 20 pilgrims have died due to health related problems on the Char Dham Yatra route so far. Keeping in mind the location of the four Dhams in the high Himalayan region, the state government has issued health advisory in 14 languages including Hindi and English and has requested the pilgrims to follow it.
