Earlier Makoy was seen as a weed, but now farmers also grow its crop and farmers earn a good income from Makoy cultivation. Makoy tastes spicy and sweet like amla. The seeds inside it are like tomato seeds. Apart from sour fruit, its taste is somewhat like pineapple and cherry. Makoy is very beneficial for the body. The vitamins and minerals found in it provide relief from diabetes. Apart from this, it is very effective in preventing obesity as well as keeping away heart diseases.
Dr. Vidya Gupta, a home science expert posted at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Niyamatpur, said that Makoy contains many nutrients including vitamin C, folic acid, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamin A. The carotene found in it acts as an antioxidant. Makoy is an effective medicine for high blood pressure and heart disease. Not only this, due to the fiber found in it, it is very beneficial for the stomach.

Dr. Vidya Gupta said that making a paste of Makoy leaves and applying it on white spots provides relief from it. Making powder of Makoy fruit and eating it provides relief from cough, hiccups and respiratory diseases.
Controls diabetes and cholesterol
Dr. Vidya Gupta said that drinking decoction of Makoy leaves strengthens the digestive system. Appetite also increases. It is also beneficial in serious diseases like piles. Apart from this, decoction of its leaves removes inflammation inside the body. Controls liver inflammation and diabetes. Apart from this, it also controls increased cholesterol.
