Jerusalem: Israel’s counterattack continues after the terrorist attack by Hamas last year. Israel is continuously targeting Hamas positions. Meanwhile, the Israeli Army has taken a big step on Wednesday. Israel’s military has said it has reopened the Kerem Shalom crossing, crucial for the delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza. It was closed on Sunday after a Hamas rocket attack near the crossing killed four Israeli soldiers.
Israel captures all crossings
The Kerem Shalom crossing has been an important means of delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas. This is a place from where people can come and go into Gaza. At present, all the crossings of the Gaza border are under control of Israel. Gaza’s health ministry said at least 46 patients and injured seeking medical treatment were trapped. After the opening of Kerem Shalom crossing, people will definitely get relief.
Humanitarian aid increased in Gaza
Meanwhile, let us also tell you that United Nations agencies and aid groups have increased humanitarian assistance in recent times. This has been possible because Israel, under pressure from its closest ally America, has lifted some restrictions and opened an additional crossing in the north. The United Nations has said northern Gaza is already in a state of “complete famine”.
What was Israel’s plan?
From the current situation, it appears that the Israeli campaign to capture the crossing was limited. It was suspected that Israel had made full preparations for a ground attack on Rafah. Similar signals were also being received from Israel. Meanwhile, Israel has said that it will expand its military campaign if there is no progress in the ongoing direct talks with Hamas regarding a ceasefire and the release of hostages.
