Karauli. With the beginning of the summer season, a dangerous virus is wreaking havoc on people’s health. In most of the cases, this virus is making young children its victims quickly. Its maximum effect is visible on the neck. As soon as the infection occurs, there is swelling on half of the throat and mouth. This virus is also wreaking havoc on people due to fever, weakness and loss of appetite.
Not only in Karauli, the number of patients infected with this virus is increasing daily in many areas of Rajasthan. This is mumps which is also known as mumps. According to the information, this is a serious infectious disease which spreads mostly through coughing and sneezing. Generally its effect lasts for 10 to 12 days. There is no specific treatment for it even in medical science. If caution is not taken in time, it can even make the patient deaf. One or two cases of becoming deaf have also come to light.
Mumps is not a new disease
Dr. Manish Sharma, ENT specialist of Karauli General Hospital, said that mumps is not a new virus. This is a very old disease which is caused by Paramyxo virus. In the local language, this disease is called Galsua, which was prevalent even earlier. In recent times, its cases have increased unexpectedly. The risk is higher in small children. But it can affect a person of any age. According to Dr. Manish Sharma, the main reason for this is lack of vaccination. Children and adults who have not been vaccinated against MMR are at greater risk.
These are the common symptoms of mumps
According to Dr. Manish Sharma, high fever, swelling of salivary glands in the throat area, difficulty in swallowing spit, pain in the throat and loss of appetite are the common symptoms of mumps. If we talk about the greatest danger in this, then it is more in children between 2 to 12 years. Apart from this, patients who are already suffering from some serious disease. Like hypertension, diabetes, if someone is already on anti-cancer drugs. The risk of this virus is also high in such people. Like other viruses, it also spreads through contact.

ENT specialist Dr. Manish Sharma said that due to mumps, one or two people also lost their hearing. One or two cases of becoming deaf due to mumps have also been reported. Although this disease is not so serious. Out of thousands of people, such serious symptoms are seen in one or two people. If it is recognized in time and some precautions are taken, then the chances of such a situation occurring are less.

Dr. Manish Sharma said that mumps is such a serious disease for which there is no specific treatment in medical science. In this, 95% of the patients can be covered through home remedies only. There are things to note in this.
-Keeping the infected patient on bed rest.
If even slight symptoms are seen in children, stop them from playing sports and also stop them from going to school.
– The biggest root of this disease is maintained hydration. Therefore, the patient should be given as much water as possible to drink.
-The area on the throat where there is swelling. Keep that area covered with a warm cloth.
– Do not use cold and sour things during mumps.
