It is important to keep yourself hydrated during the summer season, but also keep in mind that do not drink more water than necessary. Drinking too much water also causes many health problems. Apart from headache, fatigue, drinking excess water can also cause some other serious problems. On this subject, we talked to Dr. Ved Prakash Ghille, posted as Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine of Korba Medical College.
Dr. Ved Prakash told that during summer, the body needs more water than in other seasons. Dehydration can occur due to strong sunlight and heat, hence every person drinks water as per need. The ability to drink water may vary from person to person. In case of dry throat or feeling of thirst, people quench their thirst by drinking water as per requirement. But drinking more water than required can also be harmful.
There may be a serious problem
Drinking more water than required can cause overhydration and kidney problems. Apart from this, if there is excess water in the body then there is deficiency of sodium in the body which leads to the problem of hyponatremia. Sodium is an important element in our body which works to create balance between liquids. When its level decreases, inflammation occurs in the cells, the consequences of which can be serious.
