New Delhi. ‘Yeh Dil Maange More…’ Today is the 47th birth anniversary of Sher Shah i.e. the immortal martyr Captain Vikram Batra. India’s Hero Amar Shaheed Captain Vikram Batra was born on 9 September 1974 in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh to Girdhari Lal Batra and Kamal Kanta Batra. After completing his early studies from Palampur, he did his higher education from Chandigarh. After this Vikram passed the NDA exam and joined the army in the year 1996. After his training of one and a half years, Vikram Batra’s first posting was in December 1997 as a lieutenant in the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles in Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir.
As a lieutenant in the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, Vikram Batra rescued Pakistan for sixes during the Kargil War in 1999. During this war, ‘Yeh Dil Maange More’ said by Vikram Batra still reminds people of Sher Shah Vikram Batra. Although, we won the battle but on 7 July 1999, Vikram Batra was martyred in a barrage of bullets from the Pakistan Army.

Martyr Vikram Batra was posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra, the Army’s highest honor, in 1999. The story of Captain Vikram Batra has also been shown on the big screen. In the year 2021, Siddharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s film Shershaah is based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra. This film was the biggest hit of the year 2021 and the film won many awards including Filmfare.
