Aditi has the best chance to win the gold medal, Indian women golfer Aditi finished second after the third round in the women’s individual stroke game
All the players of India are giving their 100% in the Tokyo Olympics. Some players were successful in getting medals while many failed. In the midst of all this, it seems that another medal can come in India’s account. In fact, star golfer Aditi Ashok has raised the medal hopes with her brilliant performance. Aditi is second after the third round in the women’s individual stroke game. In such a situation, Aditi has a great chance of winning the gold medal. Aditi could win the silver medal if the fourth and final round is not held on Saturday, 7 August due to bad weather. And if the final round is over, she will be a strong contender to win the gold medal.
Let us tell you that if Aditi wins any medal then it will be a historic moment for Indian golf. India has not won any medal in golf in the Olympics so far. Till five years ago, Aditi Ashok was seen spending time among golf stalwarts. She was the youngest competitor in the women’s golf event at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Now times have changed and she is on her way to win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
Aditi said about this, “Participating in the Rio Olympics gave me experience.” It was an amazing experience to stay at the Olympic Village and watch the athletes. I think I will do well in this Olympics. I will try to win a medal.
Significantly, this is only the fourth time golf has been played at the Olympics. The women’s golf match started on Wednesday at Kasumigaseki Country Club. Sweden’s Madeleine played Segström 66 on the first day and finished at number one. Aditi Ashok played 4 under 67 on the first day. A day before that, America’s Nelly Corda (67) was at number two. Aditi Ashok, 23, did even better in the second round on Thursday. She played 66 birdies with 5 birdies but fell behind world number one golfer Nelly Corda.
Nelly Corda played a tremendous card of 62 in the second round and captured the first number. His overall score after two rounds was 13-under 129. So Aditi had 133. In the third round on Friday, Corda played a card of 69 runs and maintained his position at the top. Aditi played a card of 68 runs in the third round and in the meantime she has retained the second position.
