Islamabad. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that his much talked ‘trump card’ has nothing to do with the army. Instead, the prime minister insisted that ‘to attack and damage the army is to damage the future of Pakistan’.
He categorically dismissed widespread speculation that his trump card is linked to a possible decision involving the institution of the Pakistani military.
He said and explained that what he is focusing on is a direct matter of national morality. It has nothing to do with the army.
“It’s not about who forms the government,” he said. “To destroy a country one only needs to destroy its morals,” he said.
The Prime Minister was clearly indicating how his party’s MPs changed their loyalty and how it was shown to them by the media at Sindh House, Islamabad.
Although Imran Khan did not specify what his surprise or trump card would be, when contacted, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry told The News, “It is a purely political thing, and nothing administrative.”
Referring to speculations, Choudhary said that the Prime Minister has the best relations with the Chief of the Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Chowdhury said that Khan is not a conspirator, adding that the discussion about the prime minister considering some important appointments is currently being discussed in political and media circles, which is simply baseless.
“These are all speculations,” the information minister said.
Instead, Chaudhry quoted Prime Minister Khan as saying that the institution of the military is critically important to Pakistan and its sovereignty and therefore must be protected and not maligned.
