UNSC emergency meeting continues amid global threat
The emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council continues amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis. At the meeting, the US said that Russian President Putin’s move is clearly the basis of Russia’s attempt to make excuses for further aggression in Ukraine.
Russia’s attitude changed within 11 hours
In an address to the nation, 11 hours after the US and Russia issued statements on Monday, Putin declared the separatist-held Donetsk and Luhansk as independent. Both these areas are close to the Russian border. Immediately after this Putin ordered his Defense Ministry to send Russian troops to these two cities and conduct peace operations. That is, Russia directly ordered military operations in Ukraine.

In the emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis, India said that the increasing tension on Ukraine’s border with Russia is a matter of deep concern. These developments have the potential to undermine the peace and security of the region. We call on all parties to exercise restraint. We believe that this issue can be resolved only through diplomatic dialogue. The safety of citizens is essential. More than 20,000 Indian students and citizens live and study in different parts of Ukraine and border areas. The safety of Indians is our priority.
