Many friends living in India started their business together in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine and settled there. Now the war has started and the situation has changed. Somehow, when this group of friends crossed the border and reached Poland, they told their full story over the phone to AnyTV.com.
Srikanth, a resident of Vijayawada, says that we are now in Poland. Ukraine stood on the border of Poland for 36 hours. How do you get a transit visa? We have only one car, which will now either sell it here in Poland at throwaway prices or leave it like this and take a flight and come back to India.
He says that leaving his home is the most difficult. Shrikant says that 8 years ago, when he left his homeland India and came to Ukraine, the thought was that now I will live a good life by raising my family here, but did he know that leaving his entire life’s accumulated capital like this? One day you will have to return to your homeland under these conditions.
Srikanth says we have given the keys of our house and all the restaurants to our neighbours. They say that all our restaurants are bunkers. That’s why I have come here telling my Ukrainian friends that to save your life, go and hide in these bunkers. Whenever the situation is normal and life is saved, then you start your own business. Srikanth says that now it is hardly possible that we can ever go back to Ukraine.
His own neighbor and Mumbai-based Abhinav, who is traveling with Shrikant, says that he had shifted to Ukraine only three years ago to do his business. Abhinav had a bakery in Ukraine. He says that he did not have enough time that the cash kept in the house, he could withdraw his money deposited in the bank.
Abhinav says that his bakery had food items for three-four days. So he left his bakery open to the public, because the bakery was built in one of his bunkers. The family of many of his local acquaintances have come and shifted to save their lives for the time being.
He says that he and his friends have entered Poland from Ukraine after a long wait of 36 hours. He doesn’t even have enough money to stay in Poland for 56 days. Abhinav is requesting the Indian government to help those people as soon as possible and call them to India, because Poland has given transit visa for a very short time.
