Ankit Yadav saves Pakistani girl student
Ankit Yadav, who recently returned from Ukraine, told that he helped a girl to reach the Pakistani embassy. Ankit said, I met him in a bunker on the evening of 24 February. There I was the only Indian while she was the only Pakistani girl in a bunker full of Ukrainians. Since we didn’t know Ukrainian, we couldn’t talk to anyone else. Seeing the ever-increasing tension, we decided to make an escape plan from the city.
Ankit, who is studying in an institute in Kyiv, shared his experience after landing at Delhi International Airport and said that we had planned to leave on 26th February but due to curfew we failed. We were not allowed to come out of the bunker due to incessant shelling. We were hungry and arranging food was a challenge.
The plan to get out of the bunker made in this way
Ankit said that when I requested to leave the bunker for nozzle spray, he allowed me to go out on February 27. I went to my hostel amid curfew. Cooked food for both of us and returned. Even that food was not enough though. So on the night of February 27, we ate only the rice provided by the Ukrainian people and slept.
Ankit said, on February 28, when the curfew was lifted, we came out of the bunker and took some food items from a shop and then planned to leave the city. In the meantime, he got a call from the Pakistani embassy. He told the embassy that he was in Kyiv and there was no other person from Pakistan with him. After this the Pakistani Embassy officials appealed to me to take him safely to the border.
